Management training courses are now one of the central pillars of business. For the past few years companies of all sizes are recognising the real value of training courses, as a viable way to foster better leaders, and professionals with a more holistic skill set. But what makes a great training course? It’s a difficult one, and different providers will offer their own ways of doing things. Also, there are all sorts of different training courses on offer, from train the trainer courses to situational leadership courses.
What we can say, though, generally speaking, is that people matter. Unless a training session is focused on people, then it will ill-effective. People are what make the workplace, and so it follows that a training session designed to improve how people perform in the workplace needs to be people-centred.
How do we achieve this? Training can be centred around actual situations that have really occurred. Telephone transcriptions can be used, with names changed, to give a realistic idea of the kinds of person-to-person interactions that actually occur day-to-day.
Person to person interaction is the key. On a train the trainer course you’ll be learning how to train people, the methodologies needed but also the personality traits that are most effective at conveying and influencing positive behaviour in learners.
Training can be tricky, put as long as it’s direct to people, on their level, it can be very successful.
