A leading name among car manufacturing companies at present, Chevrolet has come a long way ahead since its inception by Sir by Louis Chevrolet in 1911. It got a strong footing in the automotive industry when General Motors acquired it in 1918. Chevrolet produces all vehicles ranging from sub compact cars to medium duty commercial trucks.
Chevrolet had entered the Indian car market long ago between the years 1918 to 1928. It set up India’s first automobile assembly plant in Sewree, Mumbai. Chevrolet has currently 8 car models available in India. Chevrolet offers cars like Spark, Beat and Sail in the compact car segment in India. Of these, the Spark and Beat both are good sellers. In the big cars segment it offers cars like Enjoy, Tavera, Cruze and the Captiva. The minimum priced model of Chevrolet is the Spark and the maximum priced model of is Chevrolet Captiva. Chevrolet Triax, Trailblazer, Spark 800, Beat Electric, Spin and Orlando are few other upcoming cars which might be launched in the country soon.
Chevrolet Sparkis the perfect small family car to be driven in congested cities with ample practical features. The Chevrolet Spark comes in a price range of Rs 3.6-4.2 lakhs. The Beat is one of the best looking hatchbacks in its segment falling in a price range of Rs 3.97-6.23 lakhs. Chevrolet Sail is a sedan blessed with a long list of safety features. It however has not managed to do very well in the Indian car market. Its place now seems to be taken over by Chevrolet Cruze, another luxurious automatic stylish sedan which has attracted car lovers all aroundthe country. It is available at a price of Rs 13.70 to 6.30 lakhs. The van like MPV Chevrolet Enjoy is sold at a highly competitive price of just Rs 5.5 to 8.5 lakhs. The decade old Chevrolet Tavera at Rs 7.63to 11.15 lakhs, is perhaps the best vehicle suitable for Indian road conditions and this is one of the reasons for its high success. The Captiva is sold at Rs 25 lakhs.
Chevrolet brings in new cars only after thoroughly understanding the local customer’s mind-set and requirements. This makes their cars well accepted in the car markets.
